Remnants of the Past
The Ministry of Transportation has acted in partnership with the Qualicum First Nation, to produce an educational video “Remnants of the Past” – to sensitize viewers to the cultural significance of archaeological sites and the treatment of the remains of ancestors.
The video was made following an incident in March 2003, when 12 ancestral graves on the east coast of Vancouver Island were disturbed by machinery activity. The mutual goal of the Ministry and the Qualicum First Nation is to provide a tool to educate and enlighten viewers, and to help prevent repeat occurrences from happening in the future.
Past Chief Councillor Kim Recalma - Clutesi wrote, directed and produced the video.
