Stawamus Chief Provincial Park

Work on the Stawamus Chief Provincial Park section of the Sea-to-Sky Highway Improvement Project is ahead of schedule. Parking lots on the east side of the highway are now complete including a round-about. The west side parking lots will be paved this summer in anticipation of the installation of the east-west pedestrian overpass in the fall of 2008. Anchors are being drilled prior to concrete being poured to support abutments that will support the future structure.

Mamquam Blind Channel Bridge

This summer, work on the Mamquam Blind Channel Bridge included the piling of timber for densification of the soil followed by the installation of steel piles to support structural elements of the bridge abutment. North side piles support the footing. The last of the girders will be installed in September. Once asphalt is laid in the fall, the four- lane Mamquam Bridge will be opened to motorists.

Centennial Way

This series of photos shows the progress over the past few months on the Centennial Way overpass and the new Mamquam River bridge. Traffic has been diverted onto the new southbound lanes while crews continue the excavation and wall construction to support the highway overpass above Centennial Way on the northbound side. There will be a difference in height between the two bridges, but it is quickly corrected in the new alignment.
