The first photo is a rendering of how the Kelvin Grove interchange will look after construction. This “mini-change” consists of a bridge spanning the highway, with north and southbound on/off ramps from the highway in a diamond configuration. The northbound ramps are clearly visible in the photos, as is the final “split grade” configuration, with elevated northbound lanes. On the southbound side, there is much work to be done: construction of mechanically stabilized earth walls to support a large fill for two lanes north of the bridge. There is a temporary crosswalk through the work area for pedestrians and also temporary turnarounds for local drivers until the bridge structure is completed.

Many of the features of the final configuration shown in the rendering can be discerned in recent photos from the work underway near Brunswick Road. The brown fill in the view from above is where the future four lane alignment will pass, the walls to support the highway where the small road passes under it are well advanced, and the pavement south of this structure is the final configuration of the northbound on and off ramps. Brunswick Beach residents are temporarily accessing the highway via what will become the southbound off-ramp when everything is completed.
