Registering as a New Applicant |
|
To start your online application, you must first register as a
new applicant.
To register, find the Start New Application section of the Introduction
page, in the right-hand column below the Returned to Saved Application section.
Type your email address in both the enter
email address and verify email address textboxes, then
press Register. If the emails you entered match, you will see the Collection, Use and
Disclosure of Information screen.
Important: Make sure you enter a valid email
address that you have access to.
Once you complete the registration process,
you are assigned an Online Application Reference Number which
is sent to the email address entered. If you need to exit before finishing your application,
this number will be required to continue entering your information as a returning applicant.
Continuing as a Returning Applicant |
|
Registered
applicants who saved their work and ended their session
may resume work on their application by logging
in as a returning applicant.
To log in, find the Returned to Saved Application section of the
Introduction page (at the top of the right-hand column).
Type the email address you used to register in the enter
email address textbox, and then type the Online
Application reference number in the application Reference #
textbox. Press the Log in button. If the email
and reference number match correctly,
you will return to where you last saved the application process.
Important: Your online application reference number was mailed
to the email address you entered when you initially registered.

Moving Through the Online Application |
|
The online application consists of a sequence
of screens to be completed individually, in order of appearance. The number
of screens depends on the information entered on the Start
and Licence Type screens. After entering the required information, pressing the Next button
will proceed to the next screen. Your work is
automatically saved when you move from screen to
screen using the Next or Previous buttons.
The
Steps Guide on the left-hand side of the page lists all of the steps required to complete the application,
which ones you have already finished, and which ones still remain outstanding.
For example, pressing Next after finishing
the Start screen will update the Steps guide,
placing a checkmark next to Start indicating that
it has been completed. This Guide provides an easy reminder to
where you are in the application process. The steps
on the Guide are not navigational hyperlinks. To
navigate through the application, use the Next
and Previous buttons at the bottom of each screen.
Just as the Next button moves you forward in the screen sequence,
the Previous button moves
you backwards. Moving back and forth through
completed screens will not alter the data you entered.
However, if you move back to an earlier screen and change
the information entered, then move forward, you may have changed your application
process which could result in a different sequence of screens
listed in the Steps Guide.
Each screen has its own online help. The online
help for the screen offers assistance in how to complete
the screen, as well as links to important definitions.
To display the help for a screen, press the Help + button
at the top-right of the screen. A scrollable section will
open, containing the help for the current
page. Use the scroll bar to move through the contents.
Pressing the Print button will open the help file in a new printable window.
Press the Help - button to make the help section disappear.
Saving your Work and Exiting
|
|
To save before moving to the next screen, press
the Save Your Work button ,
located near the bottom of the Steps guide on the left-hand column of the
page.
You may exit the online
application at any time by pressing the Log Out button
located near the bottom of the Steps guide on the left-hand column of the
page. This action returns you to the Online Licence Application
homepage, and automatically saves your work.
You can change any of your choices or information at any
time. Use the Next and Previous buttons to move to
the page where you want to make changes, and then make your
changes. Once you press the Save Your Work button or move to the
next or previous screen, your changes will be automatically saved.
Important: Once you press the Submit button at the end
of the application process, your application is considered complete
and is sent to the Passenger Transportation Branch. You
can no longer make changes to your application once it
has been submitted. Make sure you use the Preview feature to
check your application before pressing the Submit button.
Printing your Supporting Documents Cover Page
|
|
You can print your supporting documents Cover Page by
pressing the Print button
at the bottom of the Supporting Documents screen.
Printing out the supporting documents cover page is a useful method
to remind you to forward the necessary documents for your
application to the Passenger Transportation Branch.
You can preview your application before submitting
it as final by pressing the Preview button on
the Preview and Submit Application screen.
The preview will display as a PDF file in a new window.
It will list the information entered,
in the order of the screens completed. The document
is watermarked with the words “Draft”
so that it cannot be confused with the final application.
Press your browser’s Print button to print the preview.
To make changes to your application use the Previous button to
return to the screen containing the information to be changed,
make the required changes and use the Next button until you
return to the Preview and Submit Application screen.
