Application and Licensing
Fees
Caution: The filing of an application
does not confer any permission or authority to operate
a passenger transportation service. Applicants are advised
to delay the purchase or lease of vehicles until passenger
transportation authority is obtained.
The application filing fee is non-refundable once an
application is accepted by the Passenger Transportation
Branch. Please ensure that all requested documentation
is submitted with the on-line application.
Filing Fee: $200 for a new General Authorization and/or
$200 for a new Special Authorization application
Before a Special Authorization licence can be issued the Branch will contact you to request that you submit required vehicle documents and Special Authorization Vehicle Identifier fee(s). Applicants based
outside of British Columbia will also be asked to submit
proof that you hold a valid British Columbia Financial
Responsibility Certificate letter and that your
vehicle(s) are registered with the
International
Registration Plan or a written explanation as to
why you do not (e.g. you will purchase a non-resident single commercial vehicle permit (NRSCV) or a non-resident quarterly commercial vehicle permit (NRQCV), that includes an insurance certificate, from the Provincial Permit Centre (PPC) toll-free vehicle permit line: 1-800-559-9688 or at an inspection station, formerly known as a weight scale, when entering British Columbia)
Identifier Fee: $100 (per each licensed vehicle)
If a Special Authorization licence is approved, and issued, it is valid for
one year from the date of issue unless otherwise specified
by the Passenger Transportation Board. Renewals are under
the authority of the Registrar of Passenger Transportation.
The annual licence renewal fee is $100 per each licensed vehicle.
If a licence is not renewed the licence expires. If
the licence expires, any pending applications associated
with that licence will also expire.
If a General Authorization licence is approved, and issued, it is valid for one year from the date of issue. Renewals are under the authority of the Registrar of Passenger Transportation. The annual licence renewal fee for a General Authorization Licence is $100.
If a licence is not renewed the licence expires. If the licence expires, any pending applications associated with that licence will also expire.
You may pay by Visa, MasterCard, cheque or money order
– (Payable to the Minister of Finance in Canadian
funds).
Once you have finished the Online Licence Application
process, a payment slip will be produced for you to specify
your payment method. If you are paying by Visa or MasterCard
you can fax the completed payment slip to the Passenger
Transportation Branch. If you prefer to pay by cheque or money order, the payment and the completed payment slip must be physically delivered to the Passenger Transportation Branch.
