The Compliance and Enforcement Unit investigates complaints against both illegal operators and licensees not adhering to their Terms and Conditions of Licence. Based on these investigations they prepare required remedial action plans for licensees or make recommendations for sanctions to be levied by the Registrar of Passenger Transportation.
The Passenger Transportation Inspectors also issue Notices and Orders detailing remedial actions and/or Violation Tickets stemming from on road enforcement inspections and liaisons with other Peace Officers across the province regarding the enforcement of the Passenger Transportation Act and Passenger Transportation Regulation.
Compliance and Enforcement Inspectors review and investigate applications and approve certain applications under the delegated authority of the Registrar of Passenger Transportation.
The Compliance and Enforcement Inspectors also provide information relating to passenger transportation to the general public, government, enforcement agencies, private agencies and the transportation industry.
