Management Development Program

Program Overview
The Ministry of Transportation’s Management Development Program (MDP) has been created to assist in developing the future managers and leaders of the ministry. The program provides an opportunity for individuals to develop their management skills while responding to the expected management gaps that retirements and other turnover will create in the Ministry over the next 5 - 10 years. The program does not replace traditional advancement methods, but provides another avenue for development in preparation for future management vacancies.

The program provides participants with education, training and practical work experience to develop their current skills and abilities while providing continually increasing responsibilities and complexity of assignments over a two year period.

Participants are exposed to a variety of management projects in regions, districts and headquarters, and are partnered with a mentor throughout the duration of the program providing a solid foundation for their competency development. The expected result of the program is candidates who have the required experience, knowledge, skills and abilities to apply for future management vacancies.
