Interested in highway construction? Concerned about quality of work? Want to be part of a skilled and dynamic team?

If so, Field Services is the place for you. This Branch of the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure currently has 110 people with approximately 2000 years of collective construction experience, overseeing about $300 million worth of highway construction throughout the entire province each year.

If you have current skills in the field, and have the desire and aptitude to learn, then we need you. You will be provided with supervised work experience to gain valuable skills working under a seasoned mentor.

Field Services will be looking at hiring Field Services Assistants throughout the year for the delivery of paving and grading projects throughout the Province of BC, offering competitive wages and a benefit package, training and development support with plenty of opportunity for advancement, and using leading construction technology. Wages will start at approximately $25 per hour.

These positions will require you to work in various locations throughout the province during the construction season.

Core tasks are:

• surveying, using state of the art robotic instruments;
• inspections of contractors work;
• measuring and calculating payment quantities;
• quality management, including all levels of audits;
• materials testing;
• managing the work of the Ministry, contractors and consultants;
• acting as a contractor, directing labour & equipment;
• developing contract provisions for new works; and
• performing general office, accounting, and administrative duties.
