Multi-Modal Corridor Transportation Study

A strategic, high-level assessment of transportation supply and demand to 2025 between Horseshoe Bay and the junction of Highways 99 and 97.

Introduction

Thank you for your interest in the Multi-modal Corridor Transportation Study, recently conducted by consulting engineers at Earth Tech (Reid-Crowther and Partners Ltd.).

Background: The Ministry of Transportation was asked by local governments to develop a big-picture assessment of this corridor’s current supply of various transportation modes, and long-term transportation needs, with a broader scope than that of past highway-only studies.

Earth Tech’s report will serve as a book of knowledge that can be used by various public and private sector agencies for their own specific planning needs. The report does not make specific recommendations, nor does it analyze the market for any mode of transportation. The report does, however, offer a base of information to help agencies determine viable transportation and development options.

Earth Tech’s report: The Summary Report (Volume 1) is a 2.07MB document viewed in Adobe Acrobat Reader format, which covers all data, scenarios and findings related to this study.

Public opinion: Earth Tech researched a number of travel modes, devised possible transportation scenarios to meet long-term demand and performed an economic analysis on each. Public open houses were held this winter so that the study could reflect the views of public stakeholders on each scenario, and on the future of corridor transportation in general.
