Applications
Applications to
operate a commercial passenger vehicle must be submitted to the Registrar
of Passenger Transportation. For the operation of passenger directed vehicles and inter-city buses (which require special authorization of the PT Board) application forms and materials are available at the Registrar's web site and upon request from the Registrar's Passenger Transportation
Branch in Burnaby.
Decisions
on Special Authorization Applications
Once received by the
Registrar of Passenger Transportation, any application that seeks special
authorization to operate a passenger directed vehicle or inter-city bus
will be forwarded to the Passenger Transportation Board. The Board then
publishes the application in its Passenger Transportation Bulletin
that is posted for 15 calendar days at the Board web site each Wednesday.
When the application is ready for a decision, the Board determines whether
to “approve” the application (in whole or in part) or to “refuse
to approve” the application. The Board notifies the applicant and
the Registrar of the decision. The decision is also published in the Passenger
Transportation Bulletin.
To see applications
that have ben received and published by the Board, see the PT
Bulletins posted on this web site.
Temporary
Operating Permit for Extra Vehicles
The Passenger Transportation
Board determines whether to approve permits only with respect to “fleet
size” of passenger-directed vehicle operators. (See section
38 of the Passenger Transportation Act.)
All permit requests
other than “fleet size” permits are decided by the Registrar
of Passenger Transportation or, in some cases, a delegate such as
authorized weigh scale staff.
