If the highway carries 500 - 5,000 vehicles per day:
notify your local Ministry of Transportation district office
at least three days in advance
provide proper traffic control (requirement details are
available from your local ministry office)
carry $2-million general liability insurance and $2-million
automobile liability insurance
obtain an annual permit from your local district highways
office
If the highway carries 100 to 500 vehicles
per day:
notify your local Ministry of Transportation district office
at least three days in advance
provide proper traffic control (requirement details are

obtain a permit every five years from your local district
highways office
If the highway carries less
than 100 vehicles per day:
obtain a permit every five years from your local Ministry of
Transportation office (liability insurance and prior notification about the drive are not
necessary)
To
Operate a Cattle Drive:
1. Phone your local Ministry of Transportation district office and
provide general information about the planned drive. The district office will advise you
what is required to obtain your permit.
2. Where insurance is required, pick up an insurance certificate
form at the district office and take it to your insurance agent to amend your coverage.
3. Visit your local district highways office to have your permit
processed. If applicable, bring your completed insurance certificate form.
