Canada Line Kicks off Tunnel Boring in Vancouver
June 10 – (L-R) YVR President Larry Berg, Transportation Minister Kevin Falcon, TransLink Chair Malcolm Brodie, Vancouver City Councillors Suzanne Anton and George Chow, and South Surrey – White Rock – Cloverdale MP Ross Hiebert marked the start of tunnel boring construction for the Canada Line from False Creek to downtown Vancouver. Held at the tunnel boring machine entry site located on 2nd Avenue, at the south end of the Cambie Street Bridge, the tunnel boring machine was launched with champagne and by tradition named after five-year old Leilani Henry, the Chief Engineer’s daughter.
