BikeBC projects announced for North Vancouver

April 4, 2009 – Minister Kevin Falcon announces BikeBC funding for three north shore projects on Saturday, April 4 at Kings Mill Walk, North Vancouver. Minister Falcon released details of the $2.025 million BikeBC projects for Welch Street in the District of North Vancouver and Esplanade Avenue and Kings Mill Walk in the City of North Vancouver.

Three projects are being funded out of the $2.025 million BikeBC money:

Project 1

  • 1.4 kilometres of separated bike path on Welch Street in the District of North Vancouver
  • MoT funding - $1.25m; estimated total project cost $2.5m

Project 2

  • Straightening 1.0 kilometre in Kings Mill Walk in the City of North Vancouver
  • MoT funding = $750,000; estimated total project cost = $1.5m

Project 3

  • On-street improvements on Esplanade Avenue between. St. Georges Street and St. Andrews Avenue
  • MoT funding = $25,000; estimated total project cost =$86,072

Crosswalk in sooke

March 25, 2009 - Leadership Program students Tiffany Nichol and Ethan Swinburnson help Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Kevin Falcon start construction of a special crosswalk on Highway 14 adjacent to Edward Milne Community School in Sooke. The crosswalk, to include pedestrian-activated flashing amber lights, was requested by the two students when they met with Minister Falcon four months ago.

CONSTRUCTION BEGINS ON NEW PORT MANN BRIDGE

Feb. 4, 2009 - Premier Campbell and Minister Falcon officially launched construction of the new, 10 lane Port Mann Bridge. The new bridge will reduce travel times by up to 30 per cent due to reduced congestion, and will provide for the first bus service across the Port Mann bridge in over 20 years.
