Tuesday, October 28, 2003 – Transportation Minister Judith
Reid (front)and platform party unveil a model of the new $100-million
Okanagan Lake Bridge in Kelowna. Platform party includes, left

a new five-lane bridge over Okanagan Lake in Kelowna. The bridge
will be built with a marine channel to allow traffic to drive
uninterrupted while boats pass underneath.

Creek Bridge Flood Impact
October 20, 2003 – Transportation Minister Judith Reid
surveys flood impact at the Rutherford Creek bridge site. During
a fly-over of the affected areas, the Minister assessed the
situation on the Sea-to-Sky highway and other flood-affected
areas. As well she met with the mayors of Squamish, Whistler
and Pemberton.

Infrastructure Project Office Open for Business
July 24, 2003 – Transportation Minister Judith Reid is
flanked by MLAs Reni Masi, Kevin Falcon and Brenda Locke at
ribbon-cutting to officially open the Border Infrastructure
project office in Cloverdale. The office will serve as operations
centre for $211 million in improvements to Highways 10, 11,
15 and 91, the main corridors leading to the Lower Mainland's
four border crossings. Funding is shared by the provincial and
federal governments.

Opening of Kincolith Extension Highway
May 17, 2003 – B.C. Transportation Minister Judith Reid
is joined by Dr. Joseph Gosnell, president of the Nisga'a
Lisims Government (left), and Robert Nault, Minister of Indian
Affairs and Northern Development Canada (right), cutting a
cedar ribbon to officially open the road between Laxgalts'ap
(Greenville) and Gingolx (Kincolith) on May 17, 2003. More
than 1,000 people gathered to celebrate the official linking
of the two communities by road. Construction on the 29-kilometre,
two-lane all-weather gravel road started in 2000. The $34
million, jointly-funded Kincolith Extension Highway traverses
some of the most geo-technically challenging and visually
stunning terrain in Canada.

Million to Improve Safety on Sea-to-Sky Highway
May 3, 2003 – Transportation Minister Judith Reid and
West Vancouver-Garibaldi MLA Ted Nebbeling were on hand as
construction began on a major highway improvement project
on the Sea-To-Sky Highway. The $18.3 million project will
result in the construction of seven kilometres of highway
between Culliton Creek and Cheakamus Canyon, and the twinning
of the Culliton Creek Bridge.
