Freeway: a divided primary highway for through traffic with two or more lanes in each direction of travel with access via interchanges only.

Frontage road: a public street or road auxiliary to and normally alongside and parallel to the main highway, constructed for the purposes of maintaining local road continuity and the controlling of direct access to the main highway.

Grade separation: a crossing of two roadways, or a roadway and a railroad, at different elevations.

Gradient (grade): the rate or percent change in slope, either ascending or descending along the highway. It is to be measured along the centreline of the roadway or access.
