The rehabilitation program is focused on the preservation
of highway infrastructure and the performance of the highway system. The management of the
rehabilitation program is directed at maximizing infrastructure performance, minimizing
cost, and maximizing budgets. The success of the program is founded on sound
infrastructure engineering practices, to deliver a cost effective program that is fully
integrated with the Ministry's highway maintenance and capital construction programs.
The Rehabilitation Group is responsible for managing the
information about the condition of the highway system infrastructure, to make better use
of it, reducing the demand for new facilities. The group undertakes a range of activities
to recommend strategic investment decisions to ensure the highest priority infrastructure
projects are undertaken. The group is also responsible for developing and implementing
methodologies that support decision making, providing services that include data
collection, quality audits and assurance, generating policies and procedures, and
providing technical expertise assessment and analysis.
The Rehabilitation Group then provides technical guidelines
on asset management for the planning and programming of the Rehabilitation Programs (Road
and Bridge resurfacing, Bridge Replacement and Rehabilitation, Safety Programs, and
Seismic Retrofitting) projects. In addition, the Rehabilitation Group is responsible for
the month to month monitoring of the delivery of the Rehabilitation,
Oil and Gas Industry roads rehabilitation, Heartlands, and Mountan Pine Beetle Programs projects.
