Upper Arrow Lakes Ferry
– Galena Bay & Shelter Bay
ROUTE: Across Upper Arrow Lake, 49 kilometres south of Revelstoke on Highway 23, between Shelter Bay and Galena Bay.
DAILY SCHEDULE: The D.E.V. Galena sails from Shelter Bay 5:00 am – 12:00am (midnight) and from Galena Bay 5:30 am – 12:30 am.
Dangerous cargo sailings are Tuesday and Thursday from Shelter Bay at 9:00 am and 2:00 pm and from Galena Bay at 9:30 am and 2:30 pm. (Please refer to additional Dangerous Cargo details below.)
SUMMER: (May 18 to October 9, 2012)
In addition to the above D.E.V. Galena schedule, the seasonal vessel M.V. Shelter Bay operates in Shuttle Mode between 9:00 a.m. and approximately 7:00 p.m. daily.
During the Summer season, Monday through Thursday the 5:30 pm sailing of the M.V. Shelter Bay from the Shelter Bay Terminal will accommodate additional Dangerous Goods sailings if required. (Dangerous Goods carriers are cautioned that the evening return trips on the D.E.V. Galena will be subject to passenger counts being less than 12 or 25 passengers as the case may be.)

D.E.V. GALENA CAPACITY: 50 vehicles – 150 passengers (subject to the approved carrying weight of the vessel)
Note: All vessels have an approved carrying weight as established by Transport Canada. Given the vessel’s approved carrying weight and the weight of industrial trucks using the vessel, the DEV Galena may reach its weight limit before the deck space is full. This means that, when several industrial trucks are being transported, the ferry may sail with empty space on deck.
M.V. SHELTER BAY CAPACITY: 28 Vehicles - 150 passengers (SUMMER ONLY)

Canadian Coast Guard Regulations require that:
- not more than 12 passengers be carried on sailing with Dangerous Goods which are explosives; and
- not more than 25 passengers are to be carried with Dangerous Goods other than explosives.
When the reserved day coincides with a statutory holiday the Dangerous Cargo trips will be cancelled.

In the event of an emergency, please move away from the areas of concern and follow the instructions of ship's personnel. |

Emergency Signals
Standard signals are used to alert crew members to an emergency. They include:
- Fire – a continuous ringing of the alarm bell.
- Person Overboard – three long soundings of the whistle and general alarm bell.
*In Person Overboard situations, never crowd outer decks where rescue operations are underway.
- Boat/Raft Stations – seven (or more) short soundings followed by one long sounding of the ship's whistle and/or general alarm bell.
These signals will be followed by an announcement explaining the emergency. If you hear a signal, don't panic. Our crew will take charge of the situation and let you know exactly what to do. |

Transport Regulations
Safety regulations prohibit the transport of gasoline and propane gas in excess of the following quantities:

Recreational Vehicles – not more than two cylinders of propane safely secured to the vehicle in an upright position with valves closed and tagged, plus one only 25-litre gasoline container, empty or full. Propane-powered refrigerators must have the thermostat control turned to the "off" position.

Automobiles – not more than one 25-litre gasoline container, empty or full.
-
Motorboats (towed) – not more than two portable 25-litre containers, empty or full.
Certain items, such as paint and adhesives, are subject to regulations and may not be carried. If you are in doubt about goods you want to transport, please inquire at your local terminal before travelling.
