| The Malahat Corridor is the primary link between the Capital Regional District (CRD) and the rest of Vancouver Island to the north. The highway serves approximately 22,000 vehicles, or 30,000 person trips per day. An annual traffic growth rate of 1.5% to 2.5% is forecast.
The highway is experiencing increasing capacity, reliability and safety pressures. In response, the Ministry of Transportation initiated this Malahat Corridor Study. The objective of the study is to develop a long-term transportation strategy for the Corridor.
