The Environmental Management Section of the Engineering Branch is committed to compliance with applicable environmental laws and regulations in the construction, maintenance and rehabilitation of British Columbia’s highways and bridges.

The purpose of this site is to explain the federal and provincial environmental permitting and
approval requirements that might be encountered during highway development and operation and to provide links to the majority of related process descriptions, application forms and information.

Environmental Management Section staff in Victoria and Regional Environmental staff in Burnaby, Kamloops and Prince George are available to provide further advice regarding highway-related environmental matters throughout the province.
