Kicking Horse Canyon Project

TCH 1 – Kicking Horse Canyon Project-Phase 3 West – Golden Hill Bike Path

Emil Anderson Construction (EAC) Inc. was awarded a contract valued at $1,199,191.00 for the construction of a new paved, shared pedestrian / bicycle path adjacent to the eastbound lanes of the Trans-Canada Highway, outside the concrete roadside barrier.

The project is expected to start August 1, 2011 and end November 30, 2011.

Hwy 31 – Coffee Creek – Replace Walls

Copcan Contracting Ltd. was awarded a contract valued at $960,000.00 to replace two existing stacked rock walls with cast-in-place concrete walls.

The project is expected to start October 4, 2011 and end November 25, 2011.

TCH 1 – Kicking Horse Canyon Project – 4 Kilometre Wall and Approaches

Tercon Construction Ltd was awarded a contract valued at $4,979,000.00 for construction of an additional 1.2 kilometres of improvements to the Trans-Canada Highway located approximately 3.3 kilometres east of Golden.  This work will include 4-laning, a concrete median barrier, improved drainage, wildlife protection, retaining wall construction and re-vegetation.

The project is expected to start November 1, 2011 and end November 30, 2011.

Hwy 97 – Testalinden Creek – Box Culverts

H & M Excavating Ltd. was awarded a contract valued at $192,923.00 to install/construct concrete box culverts to facilitate recommended hydrology requirements for the Highway 97 and Testalinden Creek crossing.

The project is expected to start September 7, 2011 and end November 25, 2011.

Hwy 5 – Helmer Lake to Clapperton Brake Check – Exculsion Fencing

Gene Moses Constuction Ltd. was awarded a contract valued at $400,000.00 for the installation of 10 km of new wildlife exclusion fencing and 16 ungulate gates within the highway right of way. The work will consists of 5km of fencing on each side of the highway.

The project is expected to start August 29, 2011 and end November 1, 2011.

Hwy 3A – Various Locations and Nelson at Beasely – Rumble Strip and Reflector Program

Dunwell Landscaping Ltd. was awarded a contract valued at $161,166.00 for the milling of centreline and shoulder rumble strips at various locations within the Southern Interior and the installation of recessed pavement markers (reflectors) along a 2 km. segment of Highway 3A approximately 9.4 kms west of Nelson at Beasely.

The project is expected to start August 15, 2011 and end October 14, 2011.

Hwy 1 – Monte Creek to Pritchard – Four-Laning – Phase 1

Emil Anderson Construction (EAC) Inc was awarded a contract valued at $7,187,154.19 to construct 4-laning to a 100km/hr corridor standard on Highway 1 from Monte Creek to Pritchard. The project will be constructed in 2 phases. 

The project is expected to be completed by October 31, 2012.

Hwy 1 – Clanwilliam Overhead Bridge #354 –Replacement

Arthon Contractors Inc. was awarded a contract valued at $18,034,890.58 to design and construct four laning of approximately 2.3 kilometers of Highway 1 to 100kmh design.  The work will require replacing the existing aging overhead, with a new 4 lane crossing the Canadian Pacific Railway mainline.  

The project is expected to start July 11, 2011 and end November 9, 2011.

Gibralter Mine Road and Likely Road – Asphalt Surfacing

Dawson Construction was awarded a contract valued at $3,221,952.61 for resurfacing in 3 different locations in the Cariboo District: asphalt resurfacing on Beaver Lake Road and Gibralter Mine Road (total of 17km), mill and fill as well as shoulder re-grading on Likely Rd (total of 6.04km) and paver laid RAP on Maze Lake and Keldon Roads (total of 1.430km).

The project is expected to start June 1, 2011 and end October 15, 2011.

Hwy 97A – Enderby – Intersection Improvements

672462 B.C. Ltd. was awarded a contract valued at $4,169,615.14 for improvements to Highway 97A (George Street); adding northbound and southbound left turn lanes at Hubert Avenue and at Mill Avenue and improvements to Hubert Avenue. The project is expected to start September 7, 2010 and end May 5, 2011.

Hwy 97 – Westside Road – Interchange

Ledcor CMI Ltd. was awarded a contract valued at $12,978,511.64 for the construction of supporting band roads and the construction of the interchange. The project is expected to start July 1, 2010 and end June 1, 2012.

Hwy 1 – Donald Bridge and Approaches – Four Laning and Re-alignment

Jacob Bros. Construction Limited was awarded a contract valued at $467,500.00 for the Pile Test Contract for Highway 1 (TCH) 26 Kilometers west of Golden (Seg.0985 LKI 29-5-33.5). The project is expected to start March 2010 and end the Summer of 2012.

Hwy 97A – Pleasant Valley Cross Road to Landsdowne Road – 4-Laning

Hoban Equipment Limited was awarded a contract valued at $10,855,656.00 for a new four-lane section of Highway 97A from Pleasant Valley Cross Road to Lansdowne Road. The section of Okanagan Highway 97A to be reconstructed is adjacent to the City of Armstrong and within the Township of Spallumcheen, 16 km north of Vernon. The road construction includes 4 kilometres of four-lane widening with the addition of 2.5 metre shoulders, flush median and rumble strips. Intersection functionality at Smith Road will be improved by constructing a protected tee intersection with an acceleration lane in the northbound direction. There will also be improvements to intersection geometry, sight lines, left turn bays and deceleration lanes at five other intersections. The project is expected to start in January, 2010 and end in September 2011.
