Project Scope
Construct 10.5km of 4-laning to a 100km/hr corridor standard, with a 2.6m median and 2.5m shoulders. Access management improvements involve turn-slots, deceleration lanes, and frontage roads with consolidation of other roads and accesses. A grade separated interchange is planned at Pritchard. The project will be constructed in 2 phases with the first 3.2km package commencing approximately 30km east of Kamloops, from the Monte Creek Interchange.

Benefits
- Four-laning of Highway 1 will improve safety, mobility, capacity, reduce delays and improve travel times.
- Will provide assured passing opportunities.
- Consolidating accesses off the highway will reduce accidents.
- The project will also provide safety improvements such as wider paved shoulders, paved centerline median, rumble strips and roadside barriers.
Cost and Funding
- Total project cost is approximately $42.8 million.
- The provincial government is investing $26.1 million under Capital Program.
- The federal government is investing $16.7 million under the Building Canada Plan.
- The province is dedicating funding from fuel tax revenues to improving the transportation system to support economic growth and prosperity throughout the heartlands of British Columbia.
