Kamloops to Golden Project
Donald Bridge
Project Scope
The upgrading of 3.5 km of the Trans Canada Highway Corridor at Donald approximately 25 km west of Golden. These improvements will upgrade the current two-lane configuration to a four-lane, 100 km/h design standard including a new four lane structure crossing the Columbia River and a new four lane structure over the CPR mainline. As well the construction will provide access and intersection improvements. These improvements will address safety issues as well as provide increased highway capacity and mobility for the Revelstoke to Golden segment of the Trans Canada Highway.

- Four-Laning of the Highway 1 will improve safety, mobility and capacity for the travelling public.
- Will provide assured passing opportunities.
- The project will also provide safety improvements, such as wider shoulders, paved centerline median, rumble strips and roadside barrier.
Schedule
- Construction started February 2011
- Anticipated completion Fall, 2012
Budget
- Total project cost is approximately $63 million
- The provincial government is investing $33 million
- The federal government is investing $30 million under the Build Canada Fund
Current Status

- Have completed bridge abutments. Working on piers for the bridge, building of bridge and overhead approaches and grading work ongoing.
