Last Update: July 31, 2008 The Ministry of Transportation and Highways provides RISP selection information online. This information is updated regularly and is categorized according to region. RISP
Selections News About CAiCEAs you may be aware, Autodesk purchased CAiCE Software Corporation a few years ago and has since used some of that technology in the development of their new civil engineering software Civil3D. Autodesk has said to their CAiCE DoT clients that CAiCE will continue to be supported until there is functional parity with CAiCE. The Ministry is watching very carefully the development direction of Civil3D, it is an AutoCAD based engineering software and provided it can deliver functionality similar to CAiCE, it could be a good fit for the Ministry and its consultants. With the annual subscription fees we pay for the CAiCE software, the Ministry and its consultants are eligible for Civil3D licenses at no cost and with the Ministry being an AutoCAD based shop, Autodesk is very motivated to pursue the Ministry adopting Civil3D. Depending on Civil3D direction, it may be another 3 or 4 years before the Ministry is prepared to pilot the software. If the pilot proves successful and Autodesk is willing to address any identified shortfalls, then we would be looking at an implementation in the 5 to 6 year time period, allowing for the time required to customize the software to meet Ministry highway survey, design and construction supervision standards. |
