An important safety message

Log truck driver, Adrian Sunduk, shares his story of how a seat belt saved his life. Before attending an Anatomy of a Rollover session, he had never worn a seat belt off highway because he had always planned to jump out of the truck if ever he got into a situation … See what convinced him that he was wrong and how wearing a seat belt saved his life.

Commercial Transport IMPORTANT NOTICE

The permitting restriction on loads over 3.8 m wide in the Port Mann Construction Corridor in the Lower Mainland now applies:

On Highway 1 from 160 Street to
the Cassiar Tunnel at Highway 7A

On Hwy 1, from 160 Street to the Cassiar Tunnel, please be aware that you are unsafe over 3.8 m wide and use an alternate route.

If a load over 3.8 m wide is impossible to re-route, travel time and date must be approved by the construction management team prior to obtaining a permit.

Contact Devin.Duranleau@pmh1.ca

Phone: 604-629-5456, Ext 5363.

We strongly encourage you to consider alternate routes for wide loads under 3.8 m as well.

This returns the Highway 1 segment from 160 Street to 216 Street to regular T-Form and permit conditions.

Contact the Provincial Permit Centre at 1-800-559-9688 for more information.

15-Passenger Van Safety

The Canadian Council of Motor Transport Administrators (CCMTA) review shows 15-passenger vans are safe for road and highway use when the vehicles are properly maintained, loaded and operated.  In addition, drivers of 15 passenger vans must be properly licensed. For quick reference, please read the CCMTA’s guidelines on the correct maintenance, driving and loading requirements.  Frequently asked questions and the complete CCMTA evaluation on 15 passenger vans are also available for viewing.

Extraordinary Load Approval Request

Hwy 97 from Hwy 24 to 100 Mile House  is no longer pre-approved for 85 tonnes GVW Non Reducible  Overweight Permits. Carriers wishing to use this route segment for loads/vehicles with gross weight over 64000 kg may apply for a permit approval by submitting an Extraordinary Load Approval Request, via the regular channels. Bridge Engineers  will assess the impact of the  particular load on the route’s structure. The Ministry is evaluating a structure in this route segment in detail for load capacity and potential repairs.
