ADOBE READER ISSUE FIX
The following is a guide on how to fix the
Adobe Reader problem for VIP users experiencing problems displaying the
inspection form PDF. The latest Adobe
Reader (version 9.3) has been causing the issues. To resolve this, we need to remove Adobe
Reader 9.3 and install an earlier version – Adobe Reader version 8.2.
*Note:
The following procedure assumes that you are an administrator on
your computer. If not contract your system administrator to resolve.
1.
You need to first uninstall Adobe Reader 9.3:
a. For Windows XP
users, go to Start => Control Panel => Add/Remove Programs.
For Windows
Vista/7 users, go to Start => Control Panel => Programs and Features.
b. For Windows
Vista/7: Look for Adobe Reader 9.3.x in
the list and then click “Uninstall”
For XP
users: In the Currently
installed programs box, click the program that you want to remove, and then
click Remove. If you are prompted to confirm removal of the
program, click “Yes”.
2.
Now we need to install Adobe Reader version 8.2:
a.
Go to this site: http://get.adobe.com/reader/otherversions/
.
b.
Select an operating system – Windows XP Sp3 or Windows Vista, then select the “Continue”
button .
NOTE: if you are
running Windows 7, select Windows Vista as your operating system
, else your system will try to install the 9.3 version again.
c.
Check “Adobe Reader 8.2”.
d.
Uncheck “Free McAfee Security Scan”.
e.
Select “Download now”.
f.
When prompted, select “run” and follow the on screen instructions.
3. Next, we need to make sure that Adobe does not
automatically install a newer version:
a.
Start Adobe Reader by clicking
Start =>All Programs =>Adobe Reader 8.
b. Under the "Help" menu, select "Check
for Updates..." This will open Adobe Updater.
c. The software will take a moment to look for
updates. When complete, it will tell you a new version is available and it will
give you a link that says "Preferences." Click "Preferences."
d. Uncheck the box labelled "Automatically Check for Updates."
Uncheck the "Adobe Reader 8" box under "Choose the Applications
to Update." Click "OK."
e. If a dialog box prompts for updates, click "Cancel" to return to using the program. If there are no updates, the software will tell you this and you can click "Quit."
