W.R. Bennett Bridge Project Team - Gold Medal

The team behind the W.R. Bennett floating bridge in Kelowna won the Premier’s 2009 Innovation Award. The success of this new $144.5 million bridge was the result of a partnership with the private sector to design, build, finance and operate the bridge under a 30-year agreement.

This public-private partnership provided excellent value for taxpayers while enhancing the vital transportation corridor across Okanagan Lake. The excellent management and coordination of this project resulted in the bridge opening 108 days ahead of schedule allowing motorists to travel across the new bridge without delays.

A job well done!
