Wright Station Curves
Project Update: October 5, 2009
Project Scope:
- Re-align 4.2 km of Highway 97, between 100 Mile House and Williams Lake, to a 100 km/h corridor standard and construct to 4-lanes in concert with the Cariboo Connector 4-Laning Strategy
- Access management improvements include turn slots and deceleration lanes at Wright Station and Butler Roads, as well as consolidation of other minor roads and access
- These improvements will address safety issues and provide increased highway capacity and mobility
Benefits:
- Improved safety and mobility for the travelling public on this high-accident section of Highway 97
- Consolidating accesses off the highway will reduce accidents
Cost and Funding:
- Total project cost is approximately $13.8 million
- The provincial government is investing $9.1 million
- The federal government is investing $4.7 million under the Mountain Pine Beetle Program under APGCI
