A request for consultants to offer a service at a competitive price. RFPs are structured to allow consultants considerable latitude within defined parameters, to propose their best solution to the stated requirements. Selection of the successful consultant is based on a weighted evaluation of a range of criteria. Fees and specific details of the work plan or design are typically negotiated with the preferred bidder. An RFP usually leads to a contract award.
