Simon Fraser Bridge - Latest Developments

Bridge approach grading, paving and electrical works was designed by Focus Corporation and subsequently, a construction contract valued at $4.7-million was awarded to IDL Projects Limited of Prince George in July 2008. Construction is underway and is scheduled for completion in late August, 2009.

Work on the structure itself is proceeding according to schedule. As of May 2009, construction of the piers, abutments and structural steel superstructure was complete, as well as the removal of the river access work bridge. Concrete is being cast for the deck in segments. The deck, concrete barriers, railings and lighting are scheduled for completion in August, 2009. The bridge is on schedule to be open to traffic by late summer, 2009.
