TSI and VPA Celebrate Arrival of 1000th Crane in Vancouver
The arrival of the 1000th crane from the Shanghai Zhenhua Port Machinery Co. Ltd (ZPMC) at the Port of Vancouver marks an historic occasion for the Vancouver Port Authority (VPA) and container terminal operator TSI Terminal Systems Inc. (TSI). The Port of Vancouver purchased ZPMC's first crane for the Vanterm terminal in 1991, helping to establish them as a viable supplier in the Asia Pacific region. [link]

Port's New Truck License will Prohibit Substandard Container Trucks on Port Property
The Vancouver Port Authority (VPA) today introduced the most demanding container truck safety and environmental licensing standards in North America. In support of its strategic trucking program, the Port's new Truck Licensing System (TLS) will prohibit the access of substandard trucks on port property and develop a safer, cleaner, more sustainable container truck fleet to service the Port's container facilities. Vancouver Airport Authority today celebrated the official opening of the completed International Terminal expansion, including an indoor stream surrounded by cafés, restaurants and 4,000 square metres of duty free shopping, and a large aquarium showcasing B.C.'s indigenous sea life. The new wing also features four significant new works by B.C. artists. This is the first stage in a competitive process that will result in the selection of a qualified team to design, build, finance, operate and maintain the improvements to the PMH1 corridor. Work on reviewing regulations to reduce emissions of air pollutants from ships was high on the agenda when the IMO Sub-Committee on Bulk Liquids and Gases (BLG) met for its 11th session from 16-20 April 2007. It followed on from an intersessional meeting of the BLG Working Group on Air Pollution, which took place from 13 to 17 November 2006, in Oslo, Norway, to develop the necessary MARPOL amendments.
