The
Information Privacy and Records Branch is responsible
for managing the Ministry's information and privacy, records
management, and forms management programs.
MISSION STATEMENT:
To provide
our customers with appropriate access to, and management
of, the Ministry's recorded information resources throughout
their life cycle.

The Branch manages the Ministry's
compliance with the Freedom
of Information and Protection of Privacy Act
(FOIPP). This includes developing policy and procedures,
providing advisory and consultative services, monitoring
the collection, use and disclosure of personal information,
and providing access to general information.

Records Management:
The branch
manages the Ministry's compliance with the Document
Disposal Act, and government-wide policy
and standards. The Branch develops records management
policy, standards and guidelines and provides advisory
services to staff. A significant responsibility
is the development and maintenance of the Ministry's Operational
Records Classification Systems (ORCS), which describe
and provide retention schedules for ministry operational
records. Administrative records are managed in accordance
with the Administrative
Records Classification System (ARCS).
The branch is also responsible for coordinating all ministry
transfers of records to offsite storage and for reviewing
and authorizing all requests for destruction of ministry
records.
Forms Management
The branch is responsible
for coordinating a forms managment program that includes
more than 400 official ministry forms

Guide to the Freedom of Information and Protection of
Privacy Act
The Contractors'
Guide to the Freedom of Information and Protection of
Privacy Act provides a brief review of the
Act and how it affects contractors who do business with
the provincial government and/or other public bodies.
The guide defines terminology in the Act and what contractors'
responsibilities are to maintain compliance with the Act.
