NOTICES TO ALL APPLICANTS:

BC Drivers Licences now have eight digits: Due to ICBCs update to enhance BC Drivers Licences all 7-digit DL numbers must be entered with a zero (0) at the beginning to make the 8-digit Drivers Licence numbers. This applies to applicants, directors, and drivers with a BC Drivers Licence named on a National Safety Code Safety Certificate Application.

Online Knowledge Test: A passed knowledge test is required during the application review process for all applicants regardless of location in the province, or the type and size of operations. You will need to obtain a business BCeID in order to complete the test. Please read NSC Notice 01-2021 for full details.

Extended Processing Time: Due to continuing high volumes of applications, the current wait time for applications to be reviewed is four to six (4 to 6) weeks. Applications are processed in the order in which they are received. There is no option to pay for expedited service.

Where can I get an application?

If you have a credit card, you can complete and submit an application and $200 non-refundable application processing fee over the Internet by clicking on the following link for the new NSC Safety Certificate On-line Application. Priority will be given to applications completed on-line. Personal information is collected by the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure under section 26(c) of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIPPA) for assessing application into the National Safety Code Program. Should you have any questions about the collection of this personal information please contact: Manager, National Safety Code, PO Box 9250 STN PROV GOVT Victoria, BC V8W 9J2 250-952-0577 The application has been built to be fully compatible with Internet Explorer 6.0 and you will also need Adobe Acrobat Reader. The application may work with other browsers but has not been tested. Alternatively, you can get a copy of the application package by:

  • completing the application on your computer and printing the hard-copy (see instructions below)
  • contacting the National Safety Code Office at (250) 952-0576

How to Submit a Completed Hard-Copy Application To The NSC Application Office

If you do not have a credit card or do not want to send your credit card information over the Internet, you can still complete an application using the new NSC Safety Certificate On-line Application.

  • Use the application and click CANCEL when you arrive at the payment screen
  • On the next screen, click on PRINT PREVIEW to generate a .PDF version of the completed application
  • Print out a hard-copy (i.e., paper copy) of the completed application
  • Submit this print-out, all supporting documents and the $200 non-refundable application processing fee to the National Safety Code Office.
